The Lead Project Manager (EMPOWER) is responsible for leading complex, cross-functional technology transformation initiatives with a primary focus on ERP implementations, system upgrades, integrations, and business process modernization. This highly visible role partners closely with business leaders, IT teams, operating companies, and external vendors to plan, execute, and deliver strategic initiatives that improve operational effectiveness, support digital transformation, and align with Sonepar’s long-term business objectives.


The ideal candidate is an experienced project management professional with a proven track record of delivering large-scale enterprise projects, strong stakeholder management capabilities, and the ability to lead teams through organizational change. This individual will serve as a key contributor to the success of the EMPOWER program while advancing project management best practices across the organization.

 

Location: Broomfield, Colorado on a Hybrid Schedule with up to 50% Travel 

 

Key Responsibilities


EMPOWER Project Leadership

Lead the successful execution of ERP and enterprise transformation initiatives from project initiation through deployment and stabilization.
Oversee project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, dependencies, and resource planning to ensure successful project delivery.
Drive alignment between project objectives and Sonepar's business strategy, operational requirements, and technology standards.
Coordinate implementation activities across multiple business functions and operating companies.
Monitor project performance and proactively address challenges that may impact project outcomes.

 

Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management

Partner with business leaders, functional stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors to define project requirements and establish project priorities.
Build strong working relationships across the organization to drive engagement, accountability, and successful execution.
Facilitate executive steering committees, governance forums, and project status reviews.
Provide clear and consistent communication regarding project progress, risks, issues, and key decisions.

 

Project Planning, Execution & Controls

Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, risk registers, issue logs, and governance documentation.
Apply established PMO methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure consistent project execution.
Monitor project performance metrics and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Manage project scope and change requests while maintaining alignment with business objectives and approved budgets.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and according to quality expectations.

 

Business Process Improvement & Change Enablement

Partner with business and technology teams to assess current-state processes and design future-state operating models.
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve efficiencies, and increase system utilization.
Support organizational readiness initiatives, including training, communications, stakeholder engagement, and adoption planning.
Coordinate cutover and deployment activities to facilitate successful transitions to new systems and processes.

 

Continuous Improvement & PMO Excellence

Contribute to the ongoing development and maturity of Sonepar's Digital Enterprise Project Management Office (PMO).
Apply lessons learned and best practices to improve project delivery effectiveness and stakeholder experience.
Promote standardization, governance, and continuous improvement across ERP and technology transformation programs.
Support enterprise initiatives that enhance project management capabilities and organizational effectiveness.


Required Qualifications


Experience

Minimum of 7 years of progressive project management experience leading complex IT, ERP, digital transformation, or enterprise-wide initiatives.
Demonstrated success managing large-scale system implementations, ERP upgrades, integrations, or business transformation programs.
Strong experience leading cross-functional teams and managing external vendors, consultants, and implementation partners.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Experience managing project budgets, timelines, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations.

 

Education

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Project Management, Technology, or a related field required.
Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

 

Preferred Certifications

Project Management Professional (PMP)
Program Management Professional (PgMP)
Agile, Scrum, Lean, or related project management certifications


Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Experience leading ERP implementations, upgrades, or enterprise transformation initiatives.
Strong understanding of project management methodologies including Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid delivery models.
Experience with SAP/ERP platforms strongly preferred.
Proficiency with project management tools and Microsoft Office products, including Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Ability to influence and lead without direct authority across diverse stakeholder groups.
Experience supporting organizational change management and business process transformation.
Demonstrated success operating in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments.
