Job Summary
The Solutions Specialist specialized in electrical utility hardware, supporting sales operations through expert knowledge and customer engagement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Respond to inquiries from customers and salespersons regarding the application and operation of high-technology equipment, including Eaton – Cooper and S&C.
- Assist in planning and presenting training programs and professional growth opportunities for customers and salespersons.
- Foster positive interpersonal relationships by using tact, courtesy, and a positive attitude towards customers and co-workers. Maintain pleasant telephone etiquette and represent the company with goodwill during work and company travel.
- Learn and navigate internal order entry software programs, including inventory inquiry, history, and order entry.
- Determine the make, form, and quality of merchandise desired by being familiar with products sold in the department through use, vendor information, warehouse location, catalog details, and special selling points.
- Identify and utilize appropriate company and/or customer pricing systems.
- Establish and enhance relationships with customers to better understand sales territory, schedules, and customer needs through phone calls and visits.
- Communicate with customers via phone, computer programs like Teams (or similar software), or in person to promote, support, and receive orders for products.
- Solicit orders from regular and prospective customers.
- Describe or demonstrate products using samples or catalogs, emphasizing salable features.
- Promote and sell new or additional products.
- Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads.
- Provide oral and written quotations or estimates of prices, terms, and delivery for standard, complex, or non-standard merchandise.
- Estimate date of delivery to customer based on knowledge of the company's delivery schedules.
- Assist in resolving customer credit issues as directed.
- Review complaints concerning billing or products sold, referring complaints to designated departments for investigation and resolution.
- Maintain accurate daily records of expenses for reimbursement and submit them timely.
- Collaborate with the Purchasing Department to resolve potential inventory obsolescence issues as directed.
- Promote and sell branch and company-wide promotions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients and customers.
- Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from small groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and clients
- Efficiently managing time to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to develop and present specialized instruction concerning specific high-tech equipment in the assigned area of responsibility.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Proficiency in Microsoft software suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
