The Sales Manager is responsible for managing sales activity and business development relating to the assigned region.  Monitoring sales forecasts and targets and ensuring the sales plans and market initiatives are implemented. Managing and encouraging optimal performance of all direct reports, including training.  

 

Major Responsibilities 

  • Grow sales through developing, coaching, mentoring and motivating sales and support teams. 
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and business growth. 
  • Ensure all staff are properly trained for their roles and the training is updated as required.
  • Participate in establishing and maintaining the goals and objectives set for the branch. 
  • Conduct sales analysis and reviewing progress (daily, weekly, monthly).
  • Develop budgets and account portfolios.
  • Participate in customer calls for sales and technical support (if applicable). 
  • Engage in strategic and future management planning. 
  • Participate in and/or recommend product training. 
  • Work with various manufacturers to increase the sales awareness of specified product(s).
  • Call and/ or visit key accounts and continuously build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Maintain open and positive communications with vendors.
  • Monitoring and taking an active role with customer issues or problems.
  • Manage sales, CSR and administrative functions within the branch. 
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities, areas for improvement, pricing and competitor activities. 
  • Conducting weekly sales meetings.
  • Resolve day-to-day personnel issues where management decisions are required. 
  • Represent the company to the local and industry community. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Experience 

 

  • Minimum 5-7 years of related experience, preferably in a Sales/Distribution environment. 
  • Previous management experience required.  
  • Proven leadership skills. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Previous industry experience an asset.  
  • Education & Training 
  • College/University Diploma/Degree required with a focus on Business or Sales & Marketing. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) 

 

Travel Expectations: 

  • Must have your own reliable vehicle. 
  • Out-of-town travel may be required as needed.
  • When visiting customers within city limits, the expectation will be to come into the office in the beginning of the day and near the end of the day.
  • Most trips are scheduled and pre-planned, but there may be occasional trips with minimal notice
