Scope of the Position


Responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders and delivery of materials to meet customer order requirements and maintain stock inventory levels within approved guidelines. Ensuring open communication with Branches.



  • Purchase material for inventory and non-stock items for branches and customer orders.
  • Reviewing purchasing reports to ensure timely purchase of stock using the most economical vendor.
  • Reviewing warehouse transfer reports to ensure timely replenishment of stock.
  • Review and resolve Warehouse Transfer and Purchase Order exceptions, discrepancies and errors.
  • Monitor to make sure EDI’s go through to the vendor.
  • Expedite and follow-up open purchase orders and maintain up to date delivery dates in the system.
  • Communicate to BM, Sales Representative unusual or extended delivery dates.
  • Follow-up on open warehouse transfers and Purchase Orders including ones not printed.
  • Review line points / order points and adjust as required
  • Maintain communication with BM with respect to inventory changes.
  • Monitor stages of PO’s.
  • Filing Purchase Orders.
  • Resolve accounting issues for PO’s issued where discrepancies exist.
  • Review lost sale and stockout reports and adjust inventory levels where appropriate.
  • Assist with stock rotations as needed.
  • Maintain beneficial vendor relationships.
  • Ensure pricing is current and up to date and communicate to pricing department any changes immediately and assist where necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • High school diploma required.
  • Supply Chain certification, APICS, Operations or other related an asset.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office required.
  • 2-3 years recent, related experience.
  • Distribution buying for multiple locations an asset.
