Position Scope:

The Human Resources Manager is responsible implementing and managing HR policies and programs for the company. Being involved, with national HR initiatives and projects. Provide sound advice and support to senior operational leaders in the areas of HR functions; including collective agreements, recruitment, performance management, and continuous improvement.

 

Program and Policy Management:

  • Provide coaching, leadership guidance and functional expertise to management in all areas HR management.
  • Acts as advisor for all Human Resources related issues including, but not limited to, policies and procedures, benefits, attendance management, disability, and employee relations.
  • Developing HR training initiatives that align with the company’s objectives.
  • Ensure compliance of internal policies and external regulations.
  • Implement and manage national HR programs, policies, and processes in the areas of; talent and succession planning, performance management, harassment, attendance management, employment equity, employee engagement, etc.
  • Manage attendance programs, provide metrics on employee absenteeism, and work with employees to ensure understanding and adherence to program.
  • Manage disability claims, work directly with employees, Managers and the Health and Safety team to ensure timely and safe return to work.
  • Work with managers on modified duties and accommodation plans.
  • Manage benefits program, maintain enrollment tool, provide answers to employee questions regarding benefits, annual informational sessions and bi-annual re-enrolment campaign.

Recruitment:

  • Work with management to assess recruitment needs and determine the best strategy for recruiting candidates, ensuring corporate hiring practices and standards are adhered to.
  • Where requested, screen resumes and provide management with a short list of candidates.
  • Provide support to management in creation of offer letters.
  • Work with management and other internal shared services departments on new hire announcements, new hire orientation, and creating individual integration schedules, and probationary reviews.

Employee Engagement:

  • Participate and lead initiatives to support employee engagement and retention by implementing an action plan in collaboration with business and/or senior operational leaders.
  • Provide a forum for communication where employees can discuss and air issues/concerns openly.
  • Responsible for maintaining HR News, Internal Intranet, and Announcement sections, and HR Spotlight as requested by business leaders.

Reporting & Special Projects:

  • Primary support for HR report creation and distribution.
  • Provide support to the Human Resources VP as required including special projects and assignments including but not limited to HR related training.

Requirements:

 

  • 5+ years of HR experience preferably at the generalist level.
  • HRIS experience (Success Factors and ADP considered an asset).
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel (VLookup, Pivot Tables, etc.)
  • College Diploma in Human Resources preferred.
  • CHRP designation or working towards is preferred.
  • ATS and sales recruiting experience an asset.
  • Understanding of HR governance, legislation and regulatory environment.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and consulting skills.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated and resourceful.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, facilitation skills.
