Scope of the Position


Responsible for providing expertise and support that are of a technical nature in relation to lighting products and projects for the region.  Interfaces directly with specifiers, engineers (mainly for approval process on project)and customers at the early stages of projects to obtain customer commitment prior to completing quoting process.  Negotiates various lighting projects with customers.  Heavily involved with and acts as a key contact for the  sales department and projects group. This position requires specific market industry knowledge and ability to read engineering reports in order to make pricing decisions and offer lighting solutions.

 

Major Responsibilities

 

  • Develop relationships with suppliers to establish contacts and stay informed about new available products.
  • Meet clients if necessary with or without sales representatives and assess their needs. Complete calculations for products and lighting proposals.
  • Work and negotiate various projects with customers.
  • Qualify every lighting package and create unique lighting packages when required.
  • Review specs and  coordinating lighting portion of project
  • Assist Projects department in strategy development.
  • Coordinates lighting package component of projects as required.
  • Support sales team with providing design builds.
  • Generate and present cost saving opportunities in respects to lighting projects for the company.
  • Support inventory initiatives by creating ‘ship and debits’ to move projects through inventory, qualifies lighting inventory and strategies.
  • Assist Branch Managers and Replenishment group with inventory suggestions and assist in stock rotation and work closely with the replenishment group.
  • Work with Vendor Relations Manager to make sure that the manufacturers that we bring in are along company guidelines
  • Meet and work with the agents and manufacturers to gain more loyalty for their offerings
  • Assist inside and outside sales people find products that would satisfy the needs of customers
  • Perform do lighting layouts and provide the customer with the best option for the project that they are working on
  • Take advantage of special buys and create a more seasonal movement of stock
  • responsible for fixtures, lamps and controls
  • Provides region and sales reps with updates on new lighting products entering inventory

 

Education & Training

 

  • High School Diploma required.
  • University/College Diploma preferred; Technical Diploma an asset.
  • Vendor Certified Training on specific products.
  • Lighting Layout Programs
  • Requires a working level of technical/product knowledge. 
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and lighting software packages required

 

Experience

 

  • 5 years related experience required.
  • Excellent knowledge of lighting products and applications
  • Electrical experience required.

  • Salary range:  $67,000 - $84,000 comesurate on experience and generous bonus

Actual compensation commensurate with the candidate’s experience, education, internal parity, role complexity, role level, and other relevant factors. The advertised salary range relates to British Columbia and is provided in accordance with the BC Pay Transparency Act. We recognize however that salaries are often driven by market forces in the local area where a candidate is based and accordingly the salary range may not apply outside of British Columbia.
