Scope of the Position:

Responsible for leading the purchasing function, including capital investment, monitoring the timely purchasing and control of product for customer orders within branches and ensuring the replenishment of stock inventory levels is maintained. Monitoring progress against performance goals and developing and implementing plans to achieve departmental objectives.  Managing and encuraging optimal performance of all direct reports, including training


Major Responsibilities



  • Capital Investment management GMROI, Obsolesence, turns and Vendor returns
  • PPV ledger maintainance
  • Liase with Business Unit Leaders, Pricing, Vendor Relations, Regional and Marketing Managers to ensure inventory offering is optimised for the local markets 
  • Review purchasing reports to ensure timely purchase of stock.
  • Monitor and report on performance against deparrment objectives.
  • Optimize utilization of staff, as well as coach and train staff  as required.
  • Establish guidelines to ensure inventory is purchased using most economical vendor.
  • Evaluate vendor performance.
  • Develop and maintain beneficial vendor relationships.
  • Resolve day to day personnel issues where management decisions are required.
  • Other duties as assigned 


Education & Training


  • High School Diploma required.
  • College/University Diploma required (Business related, preferred).
  • Previous experience using Infor is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office required




  • Minimum 7-10 years of related experience. 
  • Minimum of 3 years previous Management experience required.
  • Experience in distribution and/or electrical environment an asset
