What you will do:

 •   Manage dispatch, drivers, warehouse, and administrative staff assigned to the transportation department.
•    Track and maintain on-time full deliveries to cross docks. 
•    Develop cross-functional relationships to improve customer service and cost. 

•    Track and maintain out-of-service report on fleet.  
•    Develop lean process improvements.
•    Reduce department variable cost.
•    Maintain weekly driver hours to allow for open driver communication.
•    Develop and lead driver training as well as yearly recertifications.
•    Develop relevant measures for safety, cost, and service
•    Track all EE safety performance and conduct root cause analysis with solutions on any incident resulting in damage or injury.
•    Track and Maintain Fleet Utilization
•    Develop and implement measurable training procedures for all positions.
•    Develop and maintain SOPs for transportation.
•    Participate in Monthly Ride-Along with drivers.
•    Track and manage all KPIs related to transportation including cost
•    Create routing manifests and review the route to ensure that all customer delivery commitments can be met. 
•    Strong Communication with drivers, warehouse, and sales
•    Monitor all scheduled daily deliveries and ensure customer time commitments are met.  
•    Review details surrounding lost shipments, missed deliveries, and missed time commitments, and determine whether process changes are necessary. 
•    Ensure that all drivers are utilizing various fleet management software systems and following the appropriate procedures. 
•    Regularly monitor and review route configurations to ensure optimization. 
•    Level-set routes to help reduce those under 8 hours. 
•    Ensure that driver safety requirements are clearly communicated and adopted by all drivers. 
•    Remain current with all DOT Regulations and ensure drivers are compliant. 
•    Responsible for hiring, training, and developing direct reports.
•    Help coordinate maintenance and preventative maintenance on all fleet vehicles.
•    Ensure that all staff have the tools necessary to complete their jobs. 
•    Responsible for conducting annual certification of all drivers. 
•    Work with Shop Steward on Union contract issues.
•    Schedule periodic meetings with drivers.
•    Other projects/duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation and VP of Operations.

 

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with emphasis on business management and/or supply chain or equivalent knowledge through job-related experience and training.
  • 3 to 5 years prior experience managing in a union environment.
  • Understanding of contractual bargaining agreements is required.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Strong knowledge of Fleet Maintenance.
  • Understanding and experience with GPS tracking.

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • The ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout their shift. 
  • The ability to utilize hands to enter data by traditional keyboard. 
  • The ability to lift, push, and pull material and objects weighing up to 50 lbs. and heavier weights with proper equipment. 
  • The ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform various duties.  
  • The ability to operate powered industrial trucks safely.  Training will be provided. 
  • This job is performed primarily in general office and distribution warehouse environments.

 

Location: Cranbury, NJ

Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 9pm-6am  

Salary: 70,000-80,000
