Scope of the position

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the incumbent will be planning, organizing and managing the company’s accounting and budgeting activities in accordance with established processes.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports
  • Supervise the daily activities of accounting staff  
  • Balance sheet integrity and reconciliation
  • Manage the accuracy of day-to-day activities of invoicing, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general accounting, cost accounting, etc.
  • Review and maintain appropriate accruals for Obsolescence, Rebates, Bad Debt, Bonus, and other miscellaneous items
  • Ensure that all statutory requirements are met including Income Tax and sales Tax
  • Prepare analyses to evaluate different strategies and get optimal results for various projects.
  • Participate in review of internal control policies to ensure compliance.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives by ensuring proper implementation, documentation and communicate the process modifications and improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA designation with relevant industry experience.
  • Having a minimum of 5-7 years experience in a similar position.
  • Ability to grasp the big picture quickly and pay attention to the details.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to analyze and summarize information to understand issues, identify options and promote sound decision making;
  • Detail oriented; inquisitive, with the ability to work conscientiously, consistently and meticulously;
  • Ability to adapt to work effectively in ambiguous or changing situations and with a variety of individuals and groups;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS rules.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills – specifically Microsoft Excel
