As a member of the Human Resources team, the Recruitment Specialist will be responsible for driving the full cycle recruitment process. The Recruitment Specialist plays a central role in building and developing a qualified pool of candidates and will act as a talent scout, by being actively engaged in the external labour market, targeting individuals to consider working at Vallen.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Drives the full life cycle recruitment and hiring process for a wide range of positions. This includes: website postings, various job boards/networking sites, advertising, database mining, cold calling, networking, career fairs, sourcing, screening, interviewing, assessing and presenting a diversified and high quality pool of candidates to the business leaders in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with business leaders to build a recruitment plan to address their position requirements. 
  • Collaborates with HR leadership to determine career levels and compensation to align with company practices and external market conditions.
  • In conjunction with Marketing, designs and develops customized job ads that present Vallen externally as an employer of choice.
  • Creates prescreening and interviewing guides based on competency assessment
  • Works closely with business leaders to teach, review and incorporate recruitment best practices, including interviewing and assessment techniques.
  • Conducts interviews ensuring that candidates have a positive experience of their interview process.
  • Develops and maintains internal relationships with hiring managers to understand the business requirements and deliverables.
  • Coordinates and facilitates candidate interview scheduling and logistics  
  • Participates in New Associate Orientation
  • Ensure compliance with ISO and COR where applicable.

 

Education, Training & Experience

 

  • 2 to 5 years in a Recruitment Coordination/Recruiter position in a fast paced, dynamic environment with a focus on understanding business requirements and delivering results
  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Management or Business Administration or equivalent work experience
  • Interest for working in a distribution center environment where activities are high paced.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated success with relationship building across various levels within an organization and with candidates. 
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written along with experience communicating effectively to a diverse customer group.
  • Ability to effectively interpret position requirements, conduct a hiring plan discussion and assess candidates against the position profile, reassessing as required.   
  • Ability to be resilient and drive the full cycle recruitment process, including proactive candidate sourcing.
  • Proficient in the use of interviewing styles and candidate assessment.
  • Excellent organizational and execution skills and the ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment while driving a consistent recruitment process.
  • Advanced computer skills, experience with internet search, job board posting, applicant tracking systems and social media.
  • Ability to change pace in a multi-faceted dynamic environment.
  • Excellent customer service focus and team player.
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently.
  • Understanding of general HR principles such as compensation structures and career levelling, career development, performance and talent management.
