Reporting to the AM Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for improving process flows and following procedures to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness within the Distribution Centre (DC).

The Supervisor must have the ability to interact with people at all levels within the DC while providing direction to a team of employees with a strong focus on teamwork and customer service. Solid organizational skills, computer skills and the ability to manage multiple activities effectively and simultaneously is required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate activities for shippers who prepare bills of lading, manifests and other shipping documentation for outgoing shipments. 
  • Ensure accurate usage of the WISL freight system and identify training requirements for new shippers.
  • Plan and direct shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules. In addition to utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. 
  • Ensure shippers have proper training in safety, standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and quality standards to comply with policies. 
  • Oversee outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation and physical shipments. 
  • Monitor performance of operators against SOP’s, identify areas for improvement and implement resolution.
  • Handle all customer service compliance regarding shipping, damage, and errors.
  • Manage space requirements for trucks and decks in the customer pickup area, while ensuring the safety of employees, customers, and vehicles.
  • Ensure proper administration of the department by maintaining documentation that is accurate and forwarded to the appropriate parties (sales) in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the Performance Appraisal with the manager
  • May assist workers in shipping and receiving activities.
  • Ensure good housekeeping is maintained.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Must have a high level of experience within a warehouse facility and office environment
  • Knowledge of transportation/shipping terminology and correct preparation of shipping and customs documentation.
  • Experience preparing on-line paperwork especially for courier such as Purolator or FedEx.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook).
  • Experience with shipping in a warehouse environment using a WMS system.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the freight carriers, couriers, and call-in carriers
  • Must be organized, logical and willing to adapt quickly to changing policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Communicating professionally with both colleagues, carriers and sales while following verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to efficiently solve problems relating to sales and transportation.
