We are looking for a proactive and skilled UniVerse Database Administrator to oversee and enhance our Rocket UniVerse database systems. This role is vital for maintaining data integrity, optimizing performance, and ensuring availability across our enterprise applications built on MultiValue platforms for Sonepar USA operating companies.

 

The UniVerse Database Administrator role is based in our Hamilton, New Jersey office, with a virtual/remote work schedule. 



Responsibilities:

UniVerse Database Administration

  • Administer and maintain Rocket Universe databases, including configurations, upgrades, and patch management.
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to enhance query execution and system responsiveness.
  • Research and manage UV locks to ensure efficient database operations.
  • Safeguard database security through user access controls, auditing, and compliance with data governance policies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, such as system errors, data corruption, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Contribute to the development of new ERP functionalities, including modules, reports, and data conversions.
  • Develop ERP application programming interface components to support other web applications and business systems.
  • Facilitate third-party integrations by leveraging core components and data structures.
  • Collaborate on the continuous improvement of development practices, including metric definitions, quality processes, and overall software development methodologies.
  • Ensure high adoption rates, exceptional quality, and strong user satisfaction for all activities and deliverables. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ Years of Universe Administration
  • 5+ Years of Linux Server Administration
  • Proven experience with Rocket Universe or other MultiValue database platforms (e.g., UniData, D3)
  • Strong understanding of Pick-style query languages and MultiValue data structures
  • Experience with database security, backup strategies, and disaster recovery planning
  • Familiarity with shell scripting and system administration in UNIX/Linux environments 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field preferred
  • Be authorized to work for Sonepar in the United States without VISA sponsorship now or in the future

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with integration tools and APIs for Universe databases
  • Knowledge of ERP systems or custom applications built on MultiValue platforms
  • Exposure to cloud migration strategies for legacy database systems Ability to thrive in a highly agile, collaborative, and distributed team environment.
  • Strong Problem Solving and Time Management Skills
  • Java / HTML / Python experience a plus
  • Familiarity with wholesale distribution a plus

 

Flexible work schedule, this role may require occasional evening and/or weekend work.
