Our Military Link Program (MLP) integrates DOD SkillBridge Service Members within Irby Utilities for a 12-week internship where you will learn the fundamentals of the role and broader context of our branch team and responsibilities. This opportunity will introduce you further to our customer base and provide a solid foundation from which you can add value and establish a rapport with key stakeholders.
This particular MLP links to the role of Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician. NOC Techs are trained to be responsible for the operation, maintenance administration, and performance management of customer IP networks. The NOC serves as an escalation point for end-user issues that are unable to be resolved by field personnel or help desk technicians and as a first responder for network outages or impairments.
This position is full-time, requiring the ability to stand and move about the NOC some of the day. Daily tasks will include but are not limited to: Monitoring several customer networks, Receiving, troubleshooting, and escalating trouble tickets, Reporting and troubleshooting network outages, and Performing upgrades to the network. Exceptional attention to detail is a must.
Responsibilities further include:
- Dispatching field technicians
- Communicating updates on outage troubleshooting and upgrade completion statuses
- Translating technical jargon to non-technical personnel.
- Coordinating internal and external teams towards a single shared resolution.
- Executing Methods of Procedure (MOPs)
What we are looking for in a qualified candidate:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Customer focused and team oriented
- Good network routing and switching skills and experience
- Strong desire to learn
- Great communication skills
- Effective under pressure
- Proactive in providing resolutions to outages
