Las Vegas, NV, US, 89102
Be part of something bigger.
At Codale Electric, we’re proud of the role we’ve played in projects like the new Salt Lake Airport, the Las Vegas Raiders stadium and Soleil Lofts, as well as our role in housing, commercial, and industrial projects of every size throughout the Intermountain West. We strive to be the best wholesale distributor in the area and invite you to be part of building the future.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong PLC and controls experience who enjoys solving customer problems, applying technical knowledge during the sales process, and expanding their expertise across the broader industrial automation environment.
The PLC Automation Specialist serves as a technical extension of the sales team, providing the application knowledge and automation expertise customers need to make confident technology and solution decisions. The ideal candidate does not need to be an expert in every Rockwell Automation technology on day one. We are looking for strong automation fundamentals, technical curiosity, customer focus, and the ability to grow into a trusted automation sales resource.
This is not primarily a programming, engineering, or field-service position. Success comes from using technical automation expertise to solve customer problems, develop opportunities, and support the sales process.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a technical resource for PLC, I/O, HMI, industrial networking, safety, and related automation applications.
- Work directly with customers to understand their applications and challenges, then help select, configure, and develop appropriate Rockwell Automation solutions.
- Provide application-level guidance on PLC programming, troubleshooting, system architecture, migrations, and product selection, including development of bills of material and solution architectures.
- Partner with Codale account managers to proactively identify, develop, and close automation opportunities by providing technical expertise throughout the sales process.
- Use Codale's CRM to document customer activity, manage opportunities, maintain an accurate sales pipeline, and track follow-up through closure.
- Provide technical presentations, demonstrations, and product or application training for customers and internal teams.
- Collaborate with Codale sales teams, Rockwell Automation, system integrators, OEMs, and end users throughout the assigned territory, including travel to Codale locations and customer sites for application discussions, opportunity development, presentations, and support as needed.
- Support customers throughout the sales and solution lifecycle, including modernization and migration planning, implementation support, and coordination of appropriate post-sale technical resources.
- Stay current on evolving industrial automation technologies and Rockwell Automation products and solutions.
- Complete required Rockwell Automation University (RAU) training and achieve Professional competency status within 18 months of starting the role, maintaining required competency thereafter.
- Develop strong customer relationships and actively contribute to revenue growth and market development for Codale's Rockwell Automation and industrial controls business.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls, PLC programming, system integration, or a related field.
- Practical experience with PLC-based control systems, including programming, configuration, commissioning, or troubleshooting using Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation or comparable industrial automation platforms.
- Familiarity with HMI systems and industrial Ethernet/networking.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand customer requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and comfort working directly with customers as a technical resource.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with sales, technical, vendor, and customer teams.
- Willingness to continually develop technical knowledge as automation technologies evolve.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred. Expertise across every technology is not required:
- Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix, including distributed and remote I/O architectures
- Studio 5000 / Logix Designer and FactoryTalk View and/or FactoryTalk Optix
- EtherNet/IP, Stratix industrial Ethernet switches, and industrial cybersecurity
- GuardLogix and machine or process safety applications
- PowerFlex variable frequency drives and motion control
- Industrial computers, system migrations, and modernization projects
- OEM, system integrator, or end-user automation applications
What Success Looks Like
A successful PLC Automation Specialist will become a trusted technical partner to Codale customers and sales teams by:
- Helping customers solve real automation and controls challenges.
- Providing technically sound and commercially practical recommendations.
- Building expertise across the Rockwell Automation portfolio.
- Developing strong working relationships with customers and Rockwell Automation.
- Identifying opportunities to improve, modernize, and expand customers' automation systems.
