Scope of the position

Reporting to the SVP Finance, the incumbent will be responsible for planning, organizing and managing the company’s accounting and reporting activities in accordance with established processes.

 

Responsibilities

  • Follow up and coordinate the tasks of employees that report to him/her;
  • Coordinate and participate in the monthly closing process and monitoring/analyzing of operational entities to ensure the financial transactions are accounted in accordance with the IFRS and company policies;
  • Coordinate and participate in the monthly reporting of financials and KPI to Sonepar Group;
  • Identify the management team’s reporting and analysis needs and create financial reports and KPI dashboards of to meet these needs;
  • Prepare analyses to evaluate different strategies and get optimal results for various projects;
  • Contribute to the realization of the financial presentations;
  • Coordinate with stakeholders in the preparation of the annual budget and updated forecasts for the cost centers;
  • Coordinate and participate in the preparation of corporate income tax returns as well as the income tax audits and sales tax audits;
  • Coordinate and participate in the year-end financial audit with external auditors;
  • Participate in the implementation and review of internal control policies to ensure compliance;
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives by ensuring proper implementation, documentation and communicate the process modifications and improvements;
  • All other related tasks.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA designation required;
  • Having a minimum of 10 years experience in a similar position, ideally in a retail or distribution business;
  • Ability to analyze and summarize information to understand issues, identify options and promote sound decision making;
  • Detail oriented; inquisitive, with the ability to work conscientiously, consistently and meticulously;
  • Ability to adapt to work effectively in ambiguous or changing situations and with a variety of individuals and groups;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as management skills;
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS rules;
  • Bilingualism, oral and written (French and English);
  • Strong computer skills including electronic spreadsheets, Power BI and ERPs.
