Sonepar Canada is currently seeking a Manager, Sustainability to join our growing and ever-changing organization. The Manager, Sustainability is responsible for managing, driving, implementing, measuring, and monitoring the Company’s Corporate sustainability program. The Manager, Sustainability will be based out of Laval, QC and occasional travel across Canada may be required.
Manage a forward-thinking corporate sustainability program that includes climate, packaging, supply chain sustainability engagement, recycling waste programme, building energy management, and inbound/outbound freight environmental reduction strategies, that can be effectively implemented at all levels of the company; internally and externally communicated and aligned with the Company brand and sustainability values.
Responsibilities:
- Drive plans for integration and alignment of sustainability across key businesses and functions.
- Liaise with Executive Management Team, regional business leaders, and other internal stakeholders, on prioritizing sustainability issues and emerging topics
- Engage with multiple external stakeholders and represent the Company to key external third-party organizations, government agencies and industry organizations.
- Build, manage, and maintenance of sustainability policies.
- Manage and monitor all sustainability projects.
- Establish, monitor, and report sustainability performance goals and metrics.
- Support the collection of data across all sustainability metrics, including carbon, energy, waste, etc.
- Ensure all regulatory, customer, and certification sustainability submissions are completed. Research potential governments programs that provide incentives to the industry to meet environmental targets.
- Monitor global, federal, and provincial environmental regulations and develop company policies, training and communications to ensure compliance.
- Benchmark, synthesize, and communicate external and internal trends and insights; support identification of emerging sustainability issues, and identify opportunities for collaboration and leadership.
- Provide sustainability education and training to employees and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate, support, motivate and recognize regional sustainability efforts.
- Present to stakeholders, including executive and senior management, on progress as well as problems and solutions.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements:
- 5+ years experience required in sustainability, in particular leading the sustainability function in a complex organization.
- 3-5+ years previous management experience an asset.
- Bachelor's degree (Masters Preferred) in Environmental Sciences, Master of Science (M.Sc.), Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.), or related field.
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.5+ years of experience in developing, leading, and implementing corporate sustainability programs.
- Experience in the distribution industry is an asset.
- Experience in liaising with government agencies and other external parties related to sustainability.
- Ability to represent the Company’s sustainability efforts internally and externally, recommend strategic opportunities and deliver innovative so.lutions.
- Travel is required
