Job Summary

The purpose of the Project Estimator is to prepare quotations for customers on scheduled job bids by placing orders with vendors and/or suppliers, monitoring shipping dates and pricing, and scheduling to job site from beginning to end.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with manufacturers and manufacturers’ representatives to quote and sell commercial lighting and switchgear projects.  Quote miscellaneous and ancillary electrical products on projects as needed.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of project plans and specifications to prepare timely, accurate, and complete project proposals.
  • Coordinate with Irby management and salespeople to formulate a bid proposal strategy and value-added service offering. This includes gathering and analyzing information from vendors, determining appropriate pricing, and using discretion to maximize profitability.
  • Follow up on outstanding project quotes to gain customer commitments and increase our win percentage.  For projects that we do not win, gather customer feedback to improve performance on future quotes.
  • Foster and maintain excellent working relationships with Irby customers, reps, agent partners, and the design community by calling on them and providing regular technical and project support.
  • Oversee and manage all projects for profitability and take appropriate steps to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Promote fair and honest dealings with suppliers. Manage vendor relationships to benefit Irby, our customers, and suppliers.
  • For secured jobs, coordinate, and communicate detailed project needs to our Project Manager to ensure smooth project turnover and timely service to our customers. Maintain engagement with our Project Manager to facilitate dispute resolution. When needed, work with the Project Manager to determine pricing on change orders and expediting fees.
  • Analyze and relay technical data for customers, pre-sale and post-sale, regarding product selection and application, as well as product revisions post sale.
  • Consult with sales team on the proper application of products. Serve as an internal technical resource for all things related to lighting and switchgear.
  • Participate in continuous training to stay current with new products, technologies, and labor-saving solutions. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
