JOB PURPOSE:

Directs, plans, and coordinates workers and outbound warehousing activities for Company by performing the following duties personally or through supervisors in a department of the central distribution center (CDC). 

 

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•             Establishes operational procedures for activities such as verification of outgoing shipments, handling, wrapping, and stagging of materials.

•             Revue order picking ques and verify all orders are completed.

•             Verify accuracy or orders by helping train auditors.

•             Verify shipments to make sure they are boxed or wrapped in a way where they are “load/delivery ready”.

•             Establishes goals and objectives for assigned area to meet overall department goals; develops and implements new and revised methods or procedures to improve efficiency and help achieve goals.

•             Oversees the supervisors on the training of employees on the effective and safe usage of equipment and machinery.

•             Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment.

•             Prepares work order for repairs of equipment as needed.

•             Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse outbound activities with activities of other functions such as picking/auditing, wire, projects, yard, sales, and transportation.

•             Advises and instructs subordinates in all aspects of work; ensures adherence to Company's safety policies and procedures.

•             Reviews and evaluates the progress of employees with Warehouse Supervisors following the company guidelines. 

•             Exercises authority for independent decision making affecting warehouse.

•             Transmits administrative information, policies and procedures, decisions, changes, etc. to subordinates.

•             Analyzes operational issues to determine the most effective and efficient use of all resources.

•             Plans and schedules tasks over the short and long range to determine priorities and assign work.

•             Compiles and prepares reports for management regarding area operations and incorporating information submitted by subordinate supervisors.

•             Resolves questions and problems presented by subordinate staff. 

•             Determines disposition of used or damaged property and handles accordingly.

•             Other responsibilities may be assigned.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position has supervisory responsibility.
  • Manage outbound team’s supervisors and leads.

 

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:  Associate's degree (A. A.); Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) preferred

 

 

LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE NEEDED: five years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Warehouse supervisor experience is a must. Distribution and warehouse management experience is a plus.

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Through previous background and experience, the candidate must be able to demonstrate, with or without an accommodation:

•          Knowledge of shipping/receiving practices, policies and techniques.

•          Knowledge of merchandise handling and production methods.

•          Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.

•          Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

•          Ability to effectively communicate.

•          Possess in depth knowledge of IES computer systems, Microsoft Office, etc.

•          Must be a team player and abide by IES’s strong core values and beliefs.

 

LICENSES AND PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Forklift training  

 

TRAVEL REQUIRED: 0-10%

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear.  The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance. The employee will frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK LOCATION: Onsite

 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: In warehouse setting, walking and standing for long periods of times.
