Scope of the Position
Responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders and delivery of materials to meet customer order requirements and maintain stock inventory levels within approved guidelines. Ensuring open communication with Branches.
Major Responsibilities
- Purchasing material for inventory and stock items for all branches and customer orders at appropriate buy levels.
- Reviewing reports on high ranking/high importance for stock outs & expediting
- Manage inventory levels at all branch locations; maximize inventory turns, while maintaining stock levels required to service customer demand
- Promo buys, maintaining adequate inventory and parameter updates to support monthly/seasonal promos
- Reviewing line points /order points, EOQ for buy quantities, parameter maintenance
- Issuing Purchase orders and email and/or EDI over to vendors, resolving errors and review vendor order confirmations
- Investigating and determining what/how/ why material came in incorrectly or damaged (for non-conformances)
- Expediting all orders, resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries and other problems. Entering updated vendor information and ship date into open PO's
- Prioritizing and managing high volumes of emails
- Discuss and resolve issues with AP and branch staff
- Managing reports for expiring quotes, contacting vendors for renewals. Rationalizing how the quote should be used and updating the system
- Supersedes, renames and database integrity
- Monitor price increases, communicate changes to other departments including top up buys and justification of not founds
- Processing and tracking and PPV's (purchase price variances)
- Communicating directly with vendors, multiple departments, and all levels of branch personnel
- Prevent, reduce excess & obsolete inventory
- Assisting with vendor stock rotations as assigned
- Responsible for assisting with vacation coverage for other team members as well as email inbox
- Other duties as required
Skills & Experience
- High school diploma required
- Supply Chain certification, APICS, Operations or other related an asset
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office required
- 2-3 years recent, related experience
- Distribution buying for multiple locations an asset
Salary: $70,000 per annum
Please note that, whilst not expected, the company may pay at a rate outside this amount for this role where appropriate. Actual compensation commensurate with the candidates experience, education, internal parity, role complexity, role level and other relevant factors. The advertised salary relates to British Columbia and is provided in accordance with the BC Pay Transparency Act. We recognize however that salaries are often driven by market forces in the local area whare a candidate is based and accordinly the ssalary range may not apply outside of British Columbia.
