Capital Senior Product File and PDW Specialist

Location: Hybrid. The office is located in Upper Marlboro, MD

 

Position Objective:

This Product Specialist position is responsible for maintaining the ERP’s Product File and all related data files to ensure accurate product information, units of measure, discount/rebate groups, and costs in the Eclipse system.  Product data will be supplied by IDW, TSP or the purchasing departments and implemented into Eclipse by the Product Specialist.  This position works cross-functionally with our purchasing, sales and branch management on all aspects of the product data system and files.

 

As an integral member of the Capital product team the Product Specialist will be expected to perform maintenance tasks based on current Sonepar/Capital SOP’s.  As part of the Sonepar product team the Product Specialist will be expected to participate in weekly conference calls with the Sonepar product team.  There may also be various Sonepar product file related tasks that you will be asked to participate in.  Daily responsibilities may be temporarily shifted to get some of these Sonepar product file tasks completed.

 

Reporting Responsibilities:

This position will report directly to the Director of Product File/Rebate Filing at Sonepar USA and secondarily to the Director of Vendor Relations at Capital Electric.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage PDW implementation for NJPROD01, 02 and 04
  • Implement and maintain PIM Sonepar Product ID (SPID) process
  • Implement and maintain IDW data pool downloads and PDW loads
  • Implement and maintain Trade Service data pool downloads and PDW loads
  • Perform routine data management processes to ensure the product file is accurate and information is synced to the product data warehouse (PDW).
  • Load/update all price sheet information for products based on information provided by purchasing.
  • Proactively review vendor product lines for errors and fix or provide solution where needed.
  • Help to research unusual costing variances.
  • Help in researching errors in COGS and assist as needed.
  • Ensure data integrity between the PDW and product file.  Investigate errors and make appropriate corrections to accurately reflect the manufacturer pricing and company reporting.
  • Load in product substitution, reminders, and sell groups as requested by the Opcos.
  • Load in other mass product changes for purchasing agents as needed.
  • Create/maintain customer and promotional kits.
  • Load new non TSP/IDW items into the PDW when provided on a new item template.
  • Participate in the resolution of any product-related issues that may arise, as directed.
  • Follow proper procedures for product file maintenance.  Provide recommendations or new requirements to Director of Product File/Rebate Filing at Sonepar USA, as needed.
  • Represent the company’s business interests at all times in a positive and professional manner and conduct business transactions and communications in a fair and ethical manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Working with the pricing and rebate personnel to find and research causes of pricing and rebate discrepancies.
  • Support the Sonepar USA Product Team on an as-needed basis, providing staffing coverage for vacations or illnesses and assist with ad-hoc analysis, special projects or tasks as directed.
  • Opco computer conversion support

 

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Create, run, and schedule reports for various departments as needed.
  • Attend weekly product team calls.
  • Provide training for new Purchasing personnel and continual refresher training as needed.
  • Position may require occasional travel to branch locations or offsite meetings.
  • Maintain safe work practices and adheres to company policies and procedures.
  • Some of the product file updates may require them to be performed on nights and/or weekends.  It will be necessary that a laptop be taken home on a daily basis so that these “off hour” updates can be performed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive business information.

 

 

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Associates degree or higher, and/or a combination of relevant knowledge through job related experience & training.
  • Prefer four+ years of related experience in the electrical industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Organized self-starter, who can work independently with little supervision, effectively prioritizes tasks.
  • Ability to listen and comprehend information from others.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills to write reports and business documents; and to speak effectively with internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills are required to effectively perform work, to research issues and follow through to completion or resolution.
  • Solid computer skills; including Microsoft Office Applications (Work, Excel, SharePoint, Windows) and ERP (Eclipse) experience.

Physical Demands: 

  • Frequent sitting at work area, using phones, computer and 10-key.
  • Frequently moving between other departments to perform job. Walking and standing on hard surfaces.
  • Requires close vision with computer and paperwork, distant and peripheral vision for driving and for safety in warehouse.
  • Requires ability to clearly hear in-person and phone conversations.

 

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office work areas with exposure to warehouse and safety sensitive areas.  Light to Moderate noise level.
