Scope of the Position

The Receiving Supervisor oversees and ensures the efficient operation of the Receiving Department. This includes managing the team responsible for receiving vendor products, unloading shipments, and inspecting incoming materials to verify quality and quantity. The supervisor also ensures accurate put‑away of products into designated locations. They are responsible for investigating and resolving product or process discrepancies to maintain a smooth, streamlined flow of materials entering the warehouse. The role also includes assigned housekeeping duties and any additional tasks delegated by the Warehouse Manager.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives within receiving
  • Troubleshoot purchasing, supplier, delayed shipment, and urgent PO issues.
  • Manage, track, and receive inbound shipments; inspect for accuracy, quality, and quantity.
  • Document quality issues, discrepancies, and internal error reports; communicate to Purchasing and cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse, Inventory, and Expediting teams to resolve product and PO issues promptly.
  • Scan shipments and transfers; maintain accurate receiving logs and audit-compliant documentation.
  • Complete and submit receiving paperwork accurately and on time, and maintain reports, forms, and inventory of warehouse supplies.
  • Act as the primary contact for inbound requests and manage delivery appointments.
  • Oversee loading/unloading, dock preparation, offloading coordination, and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Enforce all health, safety, and regulatory requirements; promote a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure proper PPE use and safe, certified operation of material handling equipment (MHE).
  • Conduct routine safety inspections; identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate delivery flow: direct drivers, assign docks/staging, verify trailer securement, and communicate site rules.
  • Monitor yard and dock activity to ensure safe, efficient movement and maintain clear aisles, exits, and access points.
  • Any other tasks assigned by Management.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years warehouse experience
  • MHE license and experience 3-5 years
  • Comfortable using ERP (Epicor Eclipse experience would be an asset) 
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Apps (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Comfortable lifting up to 50 Lbs and able to bend, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time
  • Excellent communication, organization, multitasking & prioritization skills
