Role Summary:

The Finance and Accounting Director will lead the overall financial management and accounting operations of the organization. This key role is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and the development of financial strategies to ensure the organization's long-term success. The Director will work closely with senior leadership to provide insights that guide decision-making, drive efficiency, and manage risks.

 

Essential Job Functions:

Financial Planning & Strategy:

  • Lead the development and implementation of financial strategies and plans that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term projections.
  • Provide strategic financial analysis and reporting to senior management, supporting data-driven decision-making.

 

Accounting & Financial Reporting:

  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting principles and regulations (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
  • Supervise the accounting team and ensure adherence to proper accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Manage cash flow, accounting records, and internal audits to ensure the integrity of financial data.

 

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Oversee compliance with financial regulations and legal requirements, ensuring accurate tax filings and reporting.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to protect the organization's financial health.

 

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team to ensure high performance and career development.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Provide guidance and training on financial policies, accounting procedures, and new regulatory changes.

 

Systems & Process Improvement:

  • Ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of financial systems, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the organization's financial assets.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance financial operations and reporting accuracy.

 

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (required)
    • MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in finance and accounting, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep experience using SAP in a distribution or manufacturing environment, including strong understanding of how material movements and sales orders flow through to the general ledger.
  • Proven experience in developing budgets, forecasts, and financial planning.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and financial modeling.
  • Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset.
