We are seeking a Junior Data Engineer, you will support our data infrastructure by collecting, integrating, and managing data from various sources. This role ensures data is clean, consistent, and accessible for analysis and reporting. Data Engineers develop ETL processes to automate workflows, collaborate with senior team members, and document processes to promote knowledge sharing.

This position can be based in our Denver, Colorado or Jackson, Mississippi locations on a hybrid schedule. Travel Required up to 10%

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Gather, clean, and integrate data from various sources to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with data providers to understand data structures and requirements.
  • Maintain and optimize databases, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Implement indexing and partitioning strategies to improve database performance.
  • Incorporate core data management competencies including data governance, data security and data quality.
  • Perform basic data analysis and generate reports to support business decision-making.
  • Maintain an understanding of Sonepar’s BI Platform architecture.
  • Develop and maintain ETL /ELT(Extract, Transform, Load) processes to automate data workflows.
  • Monitor ETL/ELT jobs for performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
  • Work closely with senior data engineers and other team members to support ongoing projects and initiatives.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Document data processes, workflows, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical documentation for all data engineering tasks.

 

Qualifications:

  • 0-4 years of experience in data engineering or a related field (internships or academic projects are acceptable)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Be authorized to work for Sonepar in the United States without VISA sponsorship now or in the future

 

Skills:

  • Familiarity with SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Proficiency in one or more programming language(s): Python, Java, C#, etc
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts.
  • Understanding of cloud data platforms (e.g.,Snowflake, Azure).
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools and processes (e.g., FiveTran, Azure Data Factory, Apache Airflow, PySpark).
  • Understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data quality.
