The Senior Product File Specialist is a key member of Sonepar’s Product Data Management organization, reporting directly to the Regional Product File Manager. This role is responsible for driving the accuracy, integrity, governance, and consistency of product master data across assigned Sonepar Operating Companies (OpCos). The position oversees the maintenance of product attributes, supplier-published pricing updates, product classifications, and item-level data within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to ensure reliable, high-quality product information across the organization.
As a subject matter expert in product data management, the Senior Product File Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining alignment between internal product records and supplier/manufacturer data sources, including direct manufacturer feeds and third-party content providers such as IDEA/IDW, Trade Service, and Distributor Data Services (DDS). The position also serves as a technical resource and mentor to Product File Specialists while partnering closely with Sonepar’s Master Data Management (MDM), Purchasing, Pricing, Supply Chain, and Digital Commerce teams to support operational excellence, digital transformation, and enterprise data governance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Product Data Management
Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of product master data across ERP platforms and related business systems.
Analyze, manage, and optimize product records, including attributes, specifications, pricing, supplier information, and product classifications.
Collaborate with Operating Company Purchasing and Pricing teams to ensure timely and accurate product information that supports sales growth, procurement effectiveness, inventory optimization, and digital commerce initiatives.
Conduct ongoing data quality audits and proactively identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies to maintain the highest levels of data integrity.
Support product lifecycle activities, including new product introductions, supplier changes, pricing updates, and product maintenance initiatives.
Data Synchronization & Process Management
Execute and monitor product data synchronization processes established by the Regional Product File Manager.
Ensure ERP product records remain aligned with supplier and manufacturer content managed through Sonepar’s Master Data Management (MDM) organization.
Support enterprise data governance, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance data quality, consistency, and operational efficiency.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvements and best-practice adoption across operating companies.
Technical Leadership & Team Development
Serve as a subject matter expert for product data management processes, ERP systems, product classifications, and data governance standards.
Provide coaching, training, and technical guidance to Product File Specialists to ensure adherence to data management best practices.
Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex product data issues while driving corrective and preventive actions.
Foster knowledge sharing and professional development within the Product Data Management team.
Product Classification & Data Governance
Maintain and optimize internal and external product classification structures to support accurate product categorization across systems and platforms.
Ensure classification data effectively supports reporting, purchasing, inventory management, sales enablement, customer experience, and eCommerce initiatives.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to enhance classification methodologies and strengthen enterprise-wide data governance standards.
Monitor compliance with established product data standards and recommend improvements to support organizational objectives.
Required Qualifications
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in wholesale electrical distribution, industrial distribution, supply chain operations, product data management, master data governance, or a related field.
Proven experience working with ERP systems, Product Information Management (PIM) platforms, and/or B2B/B2C eCommerce environments.
Demonstrated ability to analyze, maintain, and improve large-scale product data sets while ensuring exceptional levels of accuracy and consistency.
Experience collaborating across multiple business functions to support operational, commercial, and customer-facing objectives.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of electrical products, including product form, fit, and function.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to evaluate complex data and develop effective solutions.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to apply data analysis and critical thinking skills to support informed business decisions.
Experience with product data standards, classification frameworks, supplier content syndication, and product content management solutions preferred.
Knowledge of digital commerce platforms, data governance principles, and master data best practices is highly desirable.
